FREE TO REQUEST · CALIFORNIA & TEXAS

Free Engineering Cost Estimator

Wondering how much engineering plans will cost? Tell us about your California or Texas project to request a private, preliminary fee range for civil, structural, traffic or residential design services. No account or payment is needed to request an estimate.

Free estimate request—not free engineering services. Your fee range arrives by email, never as a public price. It covers engineering/design fees, not construction costs or permit fees.

01What can we help with?

Choose the closest match. It’s okay if you’re not sure yet.

02A little about your project
We serve projects across California and Texas.
No street address needed at this stage.
Include units. An estimate is fine.
You can send plans and photos by replying to our email; no upload is required now.
Please don’t include sensitive documents, payment details or identification numbers.
Email is enough to get started.

03Where should we send your estimate?

We’ll use your details to respond to this project inquiry. A ballpark covers PEG’s engineering/design fees—not your construction budget. Final scope and fees are confirmed in a separate proposal.

How much do engineering plans cost?

A useful engineering estimate starts with the work you need—not one flat fee for every project. Size matters, but so do the deliverables, existing conditions and coordination required. PEG’s free engineering cost estimator collects those details so we can provide a preliminary fee range privately by email.

Use the form above for projects in California or Texas. Requesting an estimate is free and does not authorize design work. The final scope, fee and schedule are confirmed in a separate proposal.

Structural engineering costs for ADUs, additions and homes

A structural-only ADU quote is different from a full residential design package. Tell us whether you need structural calculations and review of drawings prepared by others, or PEG’s structural drawings and calculations. Include the total covered area and whether the project is detached, attached, a conversion or an addition.

For a home, separate the living area, garage and covered porches when you can. For a wall, beam or foundation modification, describe the affected area and known spans or dimensions. Existing-building work may require information that a new detached structure does not.

See the California Avenue garage-attached ADU project for one example of the kinds of projects we support. Its scope is not a price template for your property.

Civil engineering and grading-plan costs

Grading and drainage fees depend on the area being improved and the site work involved. Building square footage alone does not describe a grading project. Share the approximate lot area or grading limits, proposed improvements, known slopes and drainage concerns.

Tell us if you already have a topographic survey, soils report or agency comments. Identify wet utilities, retaining walls or other requested improvements separately. A survey, grading plan and utility design are different services; the estimate should make their boundaries clear.

Traffic engineering and traffic-plan costs

A traffic control plan, signing and striping design, signal design and traffic study are different assignments. Describe what the reviewing agency requested, the roadway limits, affected intersections or signals, and any construction phases.

Traffic work is sized by the actual roadway or study scope—not building floor area alone. Share available base plans, traffic data and agency comments. Field crews, traffic-control equipment and installation costs are not the same as engineering fees.

What should you have ready?

You do not need every answer to get started. If something needs clarification, we will ask. You can send plans and photographs by replying to our email instead of uploading them publicly.

Questions about your free estimate

Is this a construction cost calculator?

No. This estimates PEG’s engineering and design fees, not the total cost to build. Permit and agency fees, construction costs and outside services are separate unless expressly included.

Will I see a price on the website?

No. Your preliminary range is sent directly by email with the proposed scope and assumptions. We do not publish a rate sheet or display your quote on the website.

Is every quote automatic?

Supported scopes with enough information can receive an automatically prepared ballpark. Other requests need PEG’s review or clarification before a range is provided. This is not an instant-price promise for every project.

Can we discuss the scope and fee?

Yes. Reply to the email to discuss priorities, deliverables and possible scope adjustments. The ballpark starts the conversation; it is not a final proposal or authorization to begin work.

Are normal plan-check responses included?

PEG includes normal plan-check responses related to the agreed original scope without limiting the number of rounds. Changes to the project or additional services outside that scope may change the fee.

Can I request an estimate in Spanish?

Yes. Choose Español as your preferred email language in the form. You can describe your project in Spanish.
